Bitcoin Ranks 32nd Global Currency

2017-11-06 • Joe_Coder

It was announced by Jameson Lopp, a lead developer at Bitgo, that bitcoin now ranks 32nd globally due to it's circulation value. Lopp's calculations included all metrics of the physical money supply, including things such as checking accounts.

Lopp's calculation brings Bitcoin's market cap to $122,406,125,890, however it can be even higher with the usual fluctuations that occur. Currently Bitcoin accounts for roughly 60% of the cryptocurrency market, and it does not look like that will be changing anytime soon.

Every day new exchanged are announcing plans to introduce Bitcoin into their offered services. It seems like a new story is popping up everyday about Bitcoins ever growing acceptance. It is predicted that we may even see the cryptocurrency market cap surpassing one trillion dollars in 2018.
